What to expect
Visiting a new church for the first time can be an awkward experience for many. We would like to put you at ease, and assure you that Cornerstone offers a relaxed welcoming environment for anyone who walks in the door. Our intent is to be a blessing to you, and we feel that starts by first helping you to feel at home when you come in. Below are the answers to some of the common questions that we receive in regards to our services.
What should I wear?
Cornerstone does not have a formal dress code, and we would like for you to be comfortable as you come and worship with us. Some of our members prefer more traditional attire, while most of our members come in appropriate casual clothing. We have a very relaxed environment, so as long as your selection is appropriately modest, you will fit right in.
What do you have for children?
Nursery service (ages 0-3), and various children’s classes (ages 4-12), are available at each of our meeting times: Sunday School, Sunday Morning Service, and Wednesday Evening Service.
Nursery workers will be in place 10 minutes before each service begins for your convenience.
For Sunday School, and Wednesday Evening services, children ages 4-12 will begin service in their classrooms. For our Sunday Morning service, they will join the rest of the congregation for the beginning of the service and be dismissed right before the message. Simply direct your children to head to the back of the auditorium, where our children’s teachers will walk them back to the appropriate classrooms. Some of our families prefer to keep their children with them for the duration of the service. If this is your preference, that is completely acceptable.
Is there a teen ministry?
We have a dedicated team of youth directors that work with our teenagers (Junior and Senior High) during our Sunday School hour, and during other meetings and activities throughout the week. Our teens are an important part of the congregation, and fellowship and attend with the rest of the church for Sunday Morning and Wednesday Evening Services.
How do I find where I’m going?
Once you walk in our main entrance, you will be greeted by a member of our church who would be more than happy to assist you in where to go. If you arrive late and nobody is around to assist you, please use the following instructions:
Sunday School: Please walk strait through the foyer into the back classroom area of the church (You will see a set of stairs to the basement). Adults meet in the basement, while the other classes meet in the various rooms. Simply follow the hallway around the corner to find the classrooms and nursery. Classrooms are marked with appropriate signs for each age group.
Sunday Morning & Wednesday Evening: After entering the foyer, the auditorium is the large set of double doors on the right. Follow the instructions under Sunday School above to locate the nursery and children’s classrooms. Children ages 4-12 dismiss from the auditorium to their classrooms at approximately 10:45-10:50 am on Sunday Morning. Children begin in their classrooms on Wednesday Evening.
Am I expected to participate in the offering?
No. An offering to the Lord is an important part of worship, as it is described in the Bible. Cornerstone collects an offering each Sunday Morning, but it is a very non-confrontational portion of the service. While you are visiting with us, and taking time to get to know our church, we intentionally ask that you not give, unless the Lord specifically lays it on your heart to do so.
